SOURAV PAUL,
SECRETARY GENERAL,
SAIEMUN 2019.
GREETINGS, DELEGATES!
We live in perplexed times where floccinaucinihilipilification with respect to democratic values is gaining legitimacy, where poverty and gender inequality is enforced, where paranoia of division and dread prevails, where debate is reduced to cacophony, where dissent is a textbook example of anti-nationalism.
Having been a part of a society of free-thinking, a culture which fosters
argumentation, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education has always enabled us to
question whatever we encounter in our learning process. At SAIE, we agree to
disagree, respect contrarian ideologies, where dissenting opinions reverberate in
corners of our premises and for these reasons SAIE ensures the fruition of an
event like a Model United Nations Conference. The SAIE delegation opened its
chapter back in the year 2016, the class from which the concept of SAIEMUN
germinated, which is being cultivated by the dedicated, sincere and soul-stirring
team work of a close knit family, who are responsible for the maturation of its
second edition in a few days.
The 2nd edition of SAIEMUN offers a wide domain of issues that are plaguing the world ranging from the implementation of nuclear disarmament commitments to the mapping of centrally sponsored schemes with the Agenda 2030: Sustainable Development Goals, thus pushing the Indian development agenda forward. Our flagship committee, The Transfer Policy Meet, aims to educate on the challenges that dominate the world of football. At SAIEMUN one will witness nuanced debate and not platitudinous speeches, practical solutions and not dystopian ideas, delegates with a proactive approach and not a reactive one.
While conceptualizing SAIEMUN, we aimed to stage an event which will question the status quo, which will bring a tangible change in youth, a conference which will rise above rhetoric per se.
I would like to request you all not only take back an unparalleled experience but also a version of yourself slightly better .We look forward to hosting you this July. Speak your mind even if your voice shakes.
Regards,
Sourav Paul
Secretary-General.
