It is really an honour and prestige to welcome you to the first ever edition of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education Model United Nations Conference. I am really honoured to assume this prestigious role and will strive to act as a solid foundation in be construction of an excellent conference.

" O people ! Behold, we have created you from male and a female and have made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know one another. Verify, the noblest of you in sight of God is the one who is the most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all aware " - Quran

Presently, we are standing at crossroads where we continue to be beleaguered by protagonists of intolerance and hatred in globalised world issues of religio-cultural identity has entered the realm of high politics. Our societies face the challenge of good governance of cultural diversity. Today, conflicts have become more horrific, more complex and interlinked than ever before. Today, we live in a world where people have been forced to flee their homes on a scale unseen in decades; a world harassed by poverty, hunger and diseases; where the LGBT community is looked  down upon; a society where women and children have to battle against a plethora of odds.

Humanity across the globe is bound together, not only by mutual interests but by shared commandments : " to love God and Neighbors, to love Good and Neighbors." The main question confronting us to what our legacy would be and whether it would pass on to our future generations a world dominated by dread and division. Time and again, humanity has lost its bearings on the back of half-truths and lies, and the results have been disastrous and an essential obsession at the heart of social fabric once textured and fluid, is now torn apart. We are all losers in this conflict, the winner is the one who wants to inflame this destructive strife for their own objectives.

Gentle readers, we dreamt of an Utopian world, a world free from poverty and hunger, a safer world for our women and children, a world free from pollution and conflicts, a world free from sectarianism, a world where its citizens will have a clear stream of intellect. In the words of kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore :
" Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

   Whereknowledge is free".

At SAIE these words of kaviguru reverberate at each and every corner, where we are taught not only to strive for excellence but also to develop intellect, moral and spiritual values guided by the principles of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. At SAIEMUN 2017, we offer a wide range of issues that are plaguing our world. It seems to me that time is a commodity that we cannot afford to sqander.

To that end, I would like to request you all not only to take back this unparallelised experience but also a version of yourself slightly better.

We look forward to hosting you in October and November 2017.

Regards,
Sourav Paul,
Deputy Secretary General,
SAIE MUN 2017.
