Almost nineteen months ago Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education was not yet aware of Model United Nations. An invitation to participate in MUN is what triggered the idea of knowing more about MUN. The Vice-Principal took up the matter with the Secretary General and several meetings later, a workshop was conducted in school for the benefit of the students, with Mr. Chandrachur Bhattacharya of Jadavpur University, being the resource-person.

 

A team of students was sent to participate in the Calcutta Medical College Model United Nations where they learned, experienced and prepared themselves for the upcoming MUNs. SAIE was awarded the best school delegation.

Another workshop was conducted, where majority of the students from the secondary and higher-secondary section of the school got an opportunity to learn more about Model United Nations. This was a trial before SAIE conducted the first ever Intra-School Model United Nations. In the month of November, SAIE conducted the Intra-School MUN, with a highly qualified and excellent executive board from Jadavpur University.

After a grand success in the Intra-School MUN students became more enthusiastic about the concept of MUN. Meanwhile, some of them participated various MUN conferences like The Future Foundation School MUN. Munning became a trend among the students. Thereby, a large team of students participated in one of the most reputed MUNs of India, Jadavpur University Model United Nations 2017. Slowly and steadily, the present Secretariat started dreaming of conducting an Inter-School MUN. The Vice-Principal readily accepted the proposal and with the whole hearted support of the Management proceeded forward. With the guidance of the teacher coordinators, Dr. Ranjana Mukhopadhyay, Mr. Tanmoy Saha and Mrs. Nipa Dasgupta, led by our honorable Vice-Principal, Mrs. Nandita Chandra, we received a support to transform our dream to reality. Swimming in the ocean of MUN, with a group of about twenty people, it was a dream of all munners of SAIE. With the toddling dream of conducting a MUN to making it a reality, we finally achieved it, because of a flexible group work and highly dedicated students. 

 

"May we fight successfully the great battles of the future that is to be born" - as our school prayer says, fighting all the obstacles in our path, we really aspire to make Sri Aurobindo Institute of Education Model United Nations a grand event for the participants.
